There really is a difference between battery types!
I almost threw my Panasonic cordless phones away until I read a review that said the regular AA rechargeable batteries you buy don't always work properly in cordless phones. My phones turned off, restarted, and dropped conversations in the middle of calls. It turns out that this problem is caused by low-voltage batteries that need to be charged. We bought them because they matched Panasonic cordless phone specs exactly and the problem was completely solved! Saved me over โฌ200. The manual also states that cordless phone batteries should be replaced every two years.
