I wasn't planning to buy a marble rolling pin but when I saw this one I decided to give it a try because it looks very good on the product page. I was originally just looking to replace the same non-stick rolling pin I've had for years, but settled on this one because of the beauty. I've read many reviews of various marble rolling pins and it seemed like such a risk as half the reviews were pretty good and the other half were bad, mostly mentioning cracks, nicks and uneven rolling due to the hole in the pin no longer being there alignment.center. I'm happy to report that not only does this one look great, it rolls very smoothly, the handles are straight and the hole is centered so there is no skewing. Heavy but not too heavy. This is great for a tough test because it saves you from applying so much pressure. The weight of the marble provides the necessary pressure. The handles are pretty big. It is also very pleasant to work with for a long time. They are also varnished very nicely so no worries about dried wooden handles etc. Mineral oil would have cured that all anyway. The color of the marble is very beautiful and there are no ridges or structural lines where light colored marble is found. gray stripes at the ends. So don't worry about grades in the test. There were no nicks, cracks or other defects on the marble. Overall it is very good and looks nice when seated. I would like one of those rolling pins with dark handles and a dark stand. I hate light wood and this made me discuss this option, but in the end I was won over by the beauty of marble. It's beautiful and functional and looks great on display. This will also be a great gift.
