Review on πŸ”΄ Hoover UH72630 WindTunnel 3 High Performance Pet Bagless Corded Upright Vacuum Cleaner, Red by Michael Tarlue

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Had to update this review after some use

Okay let me start by saying I love Hoover vacuums. I have four of these now and one of these is almost 50 years old and still works great if you don't mind using bags. I bought this to replace a damaged one. We have two large dogs. They shed hair, dander and dust (and so does my husband!) so our house is a challenge for any vacuum cleaner. Good things: They're well packaged for transport, but not so well that it was painful to take them out of the box. The assembly is very simple. This is definitely a good powerful vacuum cleaner. The carpet in our extension hasn't looked this clean since it was installed. I love that there is a clearly marked switch to switch from floor to hose. I especially like the red side brush. It does an excellent job of picking up dust and dirt from the floor in my tiny bathroom. And the hose is quite flexible, unlike the hose on one of my other vacuums. BUT. The cable is not retractable. My fault I should have read the description more carefully. Not a big deal, but two of my other wind tunnel vacuums have retractable cords, so I didn't pay them much attention. More of a notice than a complaint. That is hard. And it's harder to press than my old one. The strainer's upper chamber, the area with cone-shaped tubes, fills with dust the first time it is used after cleaning a small area of carpet. But at least the manual has instructions on how to open this part to clean it. Renewal. It's too short, telescoping, difficult to twist to snap into place (I have another one and it's getting worse over time), and it's not compatible with other Hoover vacuums' attachments. What I like about the Hoover accessory is that it is compatible with standard vacuum attachments. This particular piece will not. However, other tools will couple to standard tubing, so I'll probably just ignore that extension rod. Overall a good vacuum cleaner at what I think is a reasonable price. But I'm old and grumpy, and little things annoy me. 3-1/2 stars from the picky curmudgeon. Update 7/11/17 Had to update my review after using this item for a while. This vacuum cleaner cleans really well. None of my previous complaints have gone away, but the job this thing does outweighs them. The best vacuum I have ever used to remove pet hair, dander and dust from carpets. Can't get 5 stars for the above reasons, but it's pretty damn close.
