Review on Gold-Plated Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Thunderbolt Compatible, Male to Female Connector | Ideal for MacBook Air/Pro, Microsoft Surface Pro/Dock, Monitors, Projectors, and More by Josh Maher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is normal for monitors up to 1920x1200, but for one or two monitors. Not for Triple+

I got this to replace the DVI port with Mini DisplayPort after the new GPU card had different connectors. On the new AMD R9 280X GPU, the Sapphire version featured 1 DVI, 2m-DP and 1 HDMI. With this adapter for a triple monitor, this adapter worked to set up 2 monitors, but as soon as I connected the third to the card, the one with this adapter turned itself off. As it turns out, to set up 3 monitors from a single AMD R-series card, all adapters must be "active" dual-channel to tell the GPU that the devices are discrete. Clone screen from laptop to TV or external monitor/projector. This also works for two displays running invisibly (separate screens, no image cloning) from the same GPU card. However, to set up three or more monitors from a single card on a desktop workstation, you must use an "active" adapter. Not that. Knowing that, the adapter here worked perfectly for what it was designed for. It's just not what I need. I keep this to myself as it's great for mirroring my laptop to a TV and HDMI/DVI projector. The adapter here worked great for what it was intended for. It's just not what I need. I keep this to myself as it's great to mirror my laptop to a TV and HDMI/DVI projector.
