I bought this to cut through some 1x6 composite wood Trex planks I was planning to install on my existing deck (replacing old wood planks). I had to rip a board lengthwise and cut a few inches off the edge of the deck. I used this in my 10 year old dewalt dw939 18v circular saw and it worked great! The edge is smooth, clean and looks better than the factory edge. At least for Trex, you need to move slowly and listen to the saw motor. I needed a straight edge for both cuts I made, so I used scrap wood to create a guide/guardrail for the saw shoe to follow. For best sawing performance, remember to set the saw blade depth properly (ie sticking out just below the bottom of the tree you are trying to cut). If you don't adjust it properly, it will take longer to cut and you will heat the blade more than necessary, which can lead to poor cutting/possible melting.
