To be honest for the price I paid for this desoldering pump I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I fooled. One of the first jobs I used it on was removing a burned out chip and I was able to remove the chip completely, a first try with very limited heat exposure to the pads. Much more than I expected! I work like a charm. Now. I have to warn you that to get good results you must use the descent technique. Allow the iron to reach full temperature, make sure the tip is properly tinned, when the solder flows fully, move the wire with the tip, then press the pump button to draw out the solder. Always make sure the tip is tinned when heat is present and you are not actively using it. As soon as the handpiece is exposed directly to air for a long time, it oxidizes and its effectiveness is significantly reduced.
