Motion detection works great, range is excellent. We have a private half mile drive in a very remote area. We don't hear cars driving in when we're in the house. Because of this, this device is fantastic. However, about two months after I started using the device, the base station started screaming "low power base" even though it was plugged in 24/7. The device is operated via the mains or buffered with 4 AA batteries. Since the first "Low Base Power" episode, he's now using 4 to 8 batteries a week or screaming for low base power. It won't turn on if there are no batteries in the base, so you can't just rely on the outlet. It's really impractical and expensive, and it's especially frustrating when it happens at 3am at full BASE POWER LOW! For this reason, I would recommend you to look for another product. I know we're definitely looking for something different.
