They are fine bowls for reheating things in (though the shape is deep), however, if you're looking for something to microwave your oatmeal in, forget it. I'm sure it does a fine job with the packets, but if you're making "old-fashioned" oats, they will boil over. I tried in several different short increments but the bowls just couldn't handle it. I gave it four stars because they're fine for some things, they're easy to clean, and they're better than plastic for the environment. Wish they made them bigger. Ended up buying the Nordic Ware Multi-Boiler. Worked once with the old-fashioned oats but boiled over he second time I tried. Will do well with the one-minute oats.
