This worked on a filter housing for my 2008 Lexus ES350 that was stuck. After my wife took it to the mechanic for an oil change one last time, I crouched down and did it. Well, I couldn't remove the filter and broke the stamped steel filter wrench trying to remove the housing with a pry bar and then an impact wrench. I only went with oil and not changing the filter until I found a better alternative. It came and released the filter straight up. I've torqued the filter to a reasonable (no diamonds) level and am ready to handle it next time. Additional recesses are ideal for the filter housing. They offer plenty of extra support without slipping off the body. A very nice finish with a solid but clearly precise construction.
