The instructions say to use a 27mm hex nut, not a 3/8" center hole. I think if the oil filter is too tight and you use a 3/8" hole this filter wrench can crack like it has happened to me with another brand. Well the Capri oil filter wrench seemed very strong to me and I didn't want to spend more money on a 27mm hex nut that I don't want to use for anything else so I used a 3/8" hole and it isn't gone broken. My oil filter was very tight and this wrench removed it without breaking or bending it.

This worked on a filter housing for my 2008 Lexus ES350 that was stuck. After my wife took it to the mechanic for an oil change one last time, I crouched down and did it. Toyota Highlander 2014 2.7L 4-Cyl. I have only used this oil filter wrench once and it has worked well for me. However, I just found out that I can't hold the oil filter still and loosen the drain plug with this tool. This requires the hole in the center to be larger to allow a 3/8 extension to fit through.
