, all with pretty terrible results for all but the most basic usage. This USB/serial adapter was the best I've found so far (recommended on another site), and it's the only one I've found that actually behaves more like a dedicated serial port, while all the others do . I've tried SO MANY I can't even remember the chipsets as I bought almost every other brand I could find for a while before giving up for a long time. Usually these crappy adapters work fine for low data rates and then fail at say 1.2kbps, while this FTDI managed to stick to 128kbps, which is good as I was contemplating my next desktop build and motherboard choices the few limited ones that were still physically rs232 -> mb ports I wouldn't normally choose with other compromises I don't like. So if like me you're looking for something with a built in serial dedicated card, try one of these adapters, just make sure it has an FTDI chipset.
