Lots of features I can't buy for the same money from Fluke, great reviews from fellow technicians

Fluke is unbeatable when it comes to professional standards. I've been a powersports engineer for 16 years, and when your paycheck calls for precision, durability and safety, bite the bullet and pay for a fluke from a tool cart. I did it and it was the right tool for the job. Well, something like that. Fluke appears to have donated its low-range DMMs to China and then states they don't live up to warranties because they're not made for the US market. So if you want factory service on your Fluke, the 80 Series is your place to start. Not cool since my 88 was the count over 20 years ago. Now 88 is four times bigger. I need a DMM for emergencies, roadside assistance (pulled over for a breakdown the other day and realized all I needed was a non-existent DMM in the car). Since this is a non-professional use case, I don't need IP67 waterproofing (well, that would be nice, but I don't want to waste what Fluke is asking for), 20A peak metering, or 8000V surge protection (modern 88) for it. So AstroAI was a very valuable (if not over-engineered, good Benz S-Class leech) for little money. I particularly liked the field lighting feature in case it's needed at night. It's easy to find AA batteries for power. Lighted cable jacks aren't strictly needed by an ex-pro, but hey, it's harder to mess things up when I'm under pressure from having to have someone else take the measurements. Wire holder on the back of the device along with a stand. Ability to detect AC voltage without wires. All pretty handy stuff for what they charge. The right tool for the job :)
