Review on 🐠 Eshopps AEO19085 Aquarium Float Valve for Water Pump by Krista Mitchell

First I want to say that I love this item. I use it as an auto topping solution and it's literally one of the only float valves sized to match the sump. . I'm glad I bought it and saved $$ compared to an expensive ATO like the Osmolator. However, a few shortcomings: The design is not the best. When installing a little"staggers". The insert where the hose enters is unreliable. The hose is not good for caulking, it takes a lot of maneuvering to stop the dripping. Mine also popped out and almost flooded the pan before I caught it. There is also no way to turn it off for water changes etc. Out of the box, I wouldn't necessarily see it as "set and forget". In the end I sealed the inlet completely with glue and silicone and put a ball valve on the hose a few inches from the inlet. So not only does the inlet have a good seal, but I can stop the flow during water changes etc. I would recommend this to people, but only if they understand there are a few steps you need to take to ensure it's reliable. functionality.
