I prefer this leash over the Petsmart brand because it has a claw closure and not the D-ring that you get with the Petsmart brand. Meet in the middle, instead of the D-ring most of us are used to from car keys that we ALL know can get stuck open without you knowing, and then "poof" - the dog is gone. I started out with this type of leash and then bought the Petsmart brand (I was trying to get a pink outfit for my Shiba lol) and I HATE it. That's cool. This is much safer as the claws will overlap halfway and there is little chance that he will let go. Living in the city center and meeting dogs, squirrels, ducks (we live next to the lagoon) and oh my god PEOPLE WITH FOOD is a godsend! Never switch again!
