Do NOT waste your money

We've been gardening for 40 years. Seriously regret purchasing these. These pots seem like hard pressed cardboard, not peat. They neither absorb nor drain well. When you water the seedlings, the water sits on top of the soil ( We used Jiffy organic mix). The roots do not grow through the walls of the pots. Other peat pots have had roots through them. Unknowingly, we did an experiment of sorts. We had pumpkin volunteers, which are seeds which survive the winter and germinate. They were growing in an area where the pumpkins were tossed, and we needed to move them. We transplanted some into these peat pots and others into a long flower pot. They were planted with the same dirt from the garden where they were growing and have been in the same location so those have not been a factor. The ones in the flower pot are thriving. The ones in the peat look tired and struggling and nowhere near the size. None of our seedlings which we started in these pots are doing well. The ratings for sturdiness and durability are high because they were way TOO sturdy and durable. They're supposed to be penetrable by the roots and break down. Next time we will pay more for the leading brand and get better results.

Pros
  • These round peat pots are a convenient and space-efficient way to grow seedlings before transplanting them into the ground
Cons
  • The pots are not durable and can deteriorate with time, causing damage to the plants
