This is a great spherical jug and the purchase was made to have a lid to turn the jug into a pitcher. Unfortunately, it has one downside that gets worse with every use: the lid snaps so tightly into its hole that you need two hands to open it. It's just sloppy and I may have to figure out a way to sand it down so it fits better and can be artfully opened unaided, like stretching both hands across the table to pour some tea. I've had a very different experience with a 2 liter ball jar lid from another manufacturer (Country Line Kitchen's iced coffee solution) which looks very similar but has tighter design tolerances.
