I never thought I'd spend so much money on a trash can - in fact, I felt buyer regret as soon as I pressed the one-click button. However, think about it. I live my life in a 1 bedroom 1 bedroom apartment that only has space for a trash can. I see that several times a day. I'd rather see this than its predecessor, the $10 Rubbermaid, which for some reason always had food dripping off the edges and needed to be hosed down weekly. I use this with regular 13 gallon trash bags. I have arthritis in my fingers so putting in a new pocket is painful at times, but it's probably area related. I laughed when I read some of the reviews that said it contained more than a typical 13 gallon bag because the science suggests otherwise. Seems! I have no facts to support this. For those complaining that they could do without the liner at the back (and the extra depth) - check it out from the side (see my photo). Door hinges create additional depth instead of storage space. This is because the bin itself is only for storing trash. I like that the bag storage system hides the edges of the bin liner. I've been told it's good at suppressing odors too. I don't have a sense of smell, but I hope so. Of course not my Rubbermaid. Think about it: If you're spending $5,000 on a kitchen remodel, that's one small change. It makes my small kitchen look a million dollars better and function a lot better. Update: I gave up and bought Simple Human bin bags and I'm, um, glad. They're easier to put in the bin, disappear under the rim, and appear to be of a higher quality than the Glad bags I've used. I have never seen one of the bags leak in the bin because of something with sharp edges, as often happens with Glad bags. Everyone knows how annoying it is when a garbage bag falls apart while you're rushing it to the chute/dumpster.
