I have had several Fellowes gel pads in the past. The old Fellowes gel was soft and comfortable, this one is almost as hard as rock. Since I have large hands, the palm rest is actually a palm rest and my palm starts to hurt with prolonged use. If you're expecting old-style Fellowes, don't waste your money, grinding a piece of wood into a bump is just as if not more convenient than that. Other differences: The palm rest itself isn't removable. .The mouse pad is loose and easy to fall out. The height of the mouse pad is smaller, so there is a border around the mouse pad. Edit: Upon closer inspection, I noticed that Fellowes really discounted it a lot. The actual gel coat is only about 1/4 inch thick. As far as I can tell it has a semi-flexible hard rubber base underneath. It looks like they tried to hide this fact by attaching the palm rest to the base. Same price, not what I paid for (.) I wanted to edit this to include the pros who previously earned 2 stars, but now I'm removing that extra star. This is not a gel pad, it is sold under false pretenses, at best it is a "gel coated pad".
