Review on Fujinon Polaris 10x50 FMTR Porro Prism Binoculars by Jay Williams

Spectacular astronomy binoculars

After trying the mid-range ($160-$350) Adlerblick and Celestron binoculars but not being entirely satisfied, I invested in a Fujinons 10x50 FMTR-SX. They arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. These are the sharpest, sharpest and brightest 10x50 binoculars I have ever used. The optics are so good that even my very picky astronomer buddy said (with obvious disappointment) "Yours is better" when comparing the view of the Pleiades through my Fujinon and his $2600 8x42 birdwatching binoculars. Fujinon optics are so good. Even from the suburbs I managed to shoot down Messier's objects as if they were of no use to anyone. Under dark skies, I found them indispensable for detecting faint deep sky objects for observing with my large 12.5 inch f5 Dobsonian. However, these binoculars have their disadvantages. They are heavy for 10x50 binoculars, sometimes too heavy for me for hiking. , although they can still be used handheld. As with any 10x binocular, it is best mounted on a tripod for nice, stable images. useless for sports or bird watching but great for astronomy or boating Being waterproof makes them good for boating but they don't have a built in compass like other models like this 7x50 FMTRC-SX binoculars with compass When it comes to optics, you get , what you pay for. I am very satisfied with my Fujinon FMTR-SX binoculars. These are the sharpest, brightest and highest contrast 10x50 binoculars I have ever used. very convenient. No other pair of binoculars has pleased me more or even come close.
