Review on Gates 45006 Water Pump: Efficient Performance and Reliability for Long-lasting Operation by Loren Rindfleisch

This product looked amazing at first glance. It turned out to be a quality production, brand new in sealed packaging. I installed the pump and tightened the six mounting bolts, everything is fine. I then put the thermostat and housing back in place and began tightening the bolts to 11 ft-lbs as recommended. One screw tightened very well, but the second loosened the threads in the pump housing (before I even hit 11 pounds). What a disgusting moment! All that work and total dependence on that part and the Gates name. It really threw a key in my time. I had to act fast and find a replacement at a local store. I will never buy a Gates product again, that's for sure. Good luck to everyone who purchases this product. I hope your experience is better than mine.
