2.5 liter vacuum pump rebuild kit (gasket) saves a lot of money compared to official VW approaches/prices. The cost to repair a vacuum pump oil leak at a local dealer was nearly $1,800 (about half the cost of my Golf)! Considering the cost of the kit and a few new tools, I was able to get the job done for about $75 + my time. A few hints/tips for those who want to try this solution * You need a MIRROR (or mini inspection camera)! Many of the bolts you are working with are "under/behind/not visible"* If you have an automatic transmission you will need to watch the video which is more detailed than the video on the RKX website.* Measures only 7ft- lbs/10 nautical miles. * You need patience. . it's not hard work, but it's "uncomfortable". The wire ball/clip is a real problem. * You'll need to clean up the dripping mess from a previous leak to determine if you've actually fixed the problem.
