Yes it does. It's easy to install. In fact, it can filter as well as a GE OEM unit. It doesn't leak. The water seems clean with no foreign taste. All the praise that other reviewers have given about it is true! But this thing seems to restrict the flow of water so much it's barely a trickle. That's not very convenient. I have no idea why, but the last 3rd party filter I tried (a different brand) had the same issue. I've tried rotating it 180 degrees (there's no directional arrow as far as I can tell) and it doesn't seem to make a difference. This is the second third party filter I'm not happy with and the second I'll throw away once I get it. I put the old one back (almost 1 year old) and it works noticeably better (but probably doesn't filter very well!). I don't think it will really save me any money so I'll suck it up and buy a genuine GE OEM unit. If this doesn't work, it's probably my refrigerator. Your mileage may vary and I hope it does!
