THEY WORK! for my opinion

One of my little ones suddenly began having "accidents” either in her sleep or as she was waking up.It’s important to note, she sleeps and naps on my bed along with her sister and a multitude of their babies to cuddle up with. After with a few weeks of "accidents”, but only when she’s sleeping or upon waking,I didn’t know what we were dealing with. It was unlike the only other experience I’d had with a dog’s bladder infection where he peed all the time and everywhere. Finally, in spite of Covid-19, we got in to see the vet for this problem. She has/had a bladder infection and vaginitis, probably from licking, being a little uncomfortable due to the bladder infection. We began a 10 daycourse of antibiotics. Because she wasn’t having accidents all over the house, we didn’t know if the infectionswere responsible for her "accidents” alone or if they contributed to it but she was developing incontinence. After all, it’s quite common with older dogs and my girls are both 14.I continued to "deal” with her wetting MY bed, although less frequently while she was being treated for the infections. The final straw was when she was curled up against my hip, not on top of the covers, but on the bottom sheet as I sat here & worked on my computer last Fri —she had another one. It immediately soakedright through the sheet into the foam mattress topper!Hello Revain, I need doggie diapers…now!I started out researching disposable ones because that’s primarily what came up in my "search”. But I hatedthe idea of putting her in plastic and adding to all the baby diapers already in land fills. After spending hours, reading, learning about disposables, as well as the cloth ones, I settled on these CuteBone diapers and boughttwo packages of 3. They arrived last night. The first one, after adjusting the leg openings, was put on her before she settle down for the night. It was dry when we awoke this morning but the girls got off the bedahead of me and raced to the doggie door. OOPS! She went potty like a good girl—outside. Unfortunately, she still had her diaper on. Okkkk…. I caught her on her way back inside, removed & hand washed it immediately. and put it outside to dry. After breakfast I put a clean one on her and she settled down for a nap with her sister—on my bed. A few hours later, they both awoke and getting ahead of me, again, got off the bed and raced to the doggie door. Again, being a good girl, she went potty outside….but with her diaper still on--again.And, again, I grabbed her on the way back inside, removed the now wet diaper, washed it and put it outside to dry in the sun. The first one almost completely dry already but it is mid-July and warm outside.Now…. I’ve learned two things……these diapers really do work and I need a new system so I get the diaper offher BEFORE she goes outside to go potty. We finished the antibiotics over the weekend and will be returning to the vet this week to make sure we’ve gotthe infections all cleared up. I still don’t know if she’s also dealing with incontinence, or if this is over, sincethere have been no accidents for a couple days. I figure with two 14 yr old girl dogs, if we really don’t need the diapers now, but with as common as incontinence is in older dogs, odds are we will.My experience, after her first thing in the morning potty being well contained within her diaper—I wish I’d had these about 3-4 weeks ago when the accidents first started.Getting a good fit is paramount in preventing leakage. First you must knowyour dog’s waist measurement and the distances to it from the base of yourdog’s tail both on their back, as well as on their belly.CuteBone’s diapers are adjustable 3 ways:1) The waist has a lot of adjustment with all the velcro present on both the strapsand the back of the garment.2) If you look at the inside, you’ll notice a little button on each side where, when you put it on your dog, will form the leg openings. You need to unbutton that button. It comes buttoned in the first buttonhole. If you unbutton it, and pull out the strip it’s buttoned through, there are a number of additional buttonholes. As you pull the strip out, you’ll notice the side of the diaper begins to pucker as you draw that side up, making it smaller. I moved the button 4 spaces, or button holes, on both sides and it fits my dog perfectly inthe legs.3) On the outside back of the diapers I received there are 2 sets of snaps. You can snap them together, shortening the length of the garment, tail to waist on the dog’s back. The website ssys they’re shipped randomly, with or without the snaps. I suspect as they use up the inventory of the older style ones without the snaps, the new ones with them are all there will be.After her first thing in the morning urination, I know these will hold a lot of urine. When I removed the diaper, there was no run-off —it was all contained within the permanent, sewn-in pad.My dog weighs 11-12 lbs. Her waist measured 11 1/2”. I’ve forgotten exactly what her waist to tail measurements were but I think they were 4-5”. Unlike on the charts there wasn’t a big difference on her whether measuring her back tail to waist or belly side, tail to waist. I bought the small and they work great. The fit, after adjusting the legs, is perfect. She doesn’t mind wearing it at all and iIt doesn’t appear to restrict her movements.I feel better about keeping her in cloth panties instead of sealing her up in plastic, if we need to live like this from now on. There are numerous patterns and colors of fabric that make them a little more fun. I chose the Doggie Floral D14S and Doggie Butterfly & Flowers D22S for my girls. They’re bright and cheerful and aren’t obviously a diaper, thus preserving her dignity.I hope this review helps others facing incontinence problems with their 4 legged children. I highly recommend these CuteBone diapers.
