Review on Lisle 25750 Brake Caliper Compressor with Dual Pistons by Doug Bundy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly and can be operated with one hand.

I bought this spreader to replace my existing long ratchet spreader. The ratchet didn't fit the smaller calipers and it didn't click/move until pressure was applied to it, so I had to hold it in place by turning the lever until the ratchet worked. This made the ratchet a two-hand operation. On my car you have to remove the caliper to remove the pads so this new tool allows you to hold the caliper with one hand and the tool with the other. I've now used it to switch pads on it and it works as expected and is easy enough to use with one hand. In the reviews there are comments about the breakage of the tool. I haven't had this problem, but the handles are plastic and I could see them bending when using the tool. I've found that you have to wait a few seconds between each pressure to allow the brake fluid to flow back through the lines. When the caliper is fully extended, you don't want to force the tool any further (again, the handles will bend, etc.). I see if you are impatient and try to make this tool run faster, it will probably break. The spreader plates are a little smaller, but dense enough that you can slide them between used brake pads and spread all the pots at once. I use it on my race car with big 6 piston Brembo brakes and change the pads about every 6 weeks. So it works better than my ratchet spreader, but you have to be patient with it.
