I wasn't too concerned about the privacy of my laptop's webcam. I don't do anything in front of my car that would alarm me if someone I was talking to happened to be spotted. However, I recently got a message from the computer saying the webcam is being used by a "host process" when I haven't done anything remotely connected to the camera. So it's one thing if someone you want to chat with sees you, but a random person just hacks into your camera? Isn't cool! Anyway, I decided to buy one of these little cases and I had no idea what to expect. Here's the breakdown for those in a similar situation. Installation: It's easy, but to align it better I would recommend opening it first and then placing it. Once applied, it adheres very well and is not easy to change. Operation: Putting on and taking off is easy and uncomplicated. However, it's a bit thicker than I expected. As you can see from my photos, the lid is definitely touching the underside next to the touchpad when the device is closed. My car is older and it doesn't bother me much, but if you're worried about scuffs you might be looking for something plastic or maybe thinner.
