I agree with other readers, maybe a bit late as I bought 2 devices. I got the same drive a few years ago and they have each worked with decent performance as a DVD player on my iMAC for about 1 year. These models bought last week can hardly perform the DVD menu reading function. I've checked the obvious regarding the power supply current; I use 2 different hubs (USB 2 and USB 3) whose ports supply 900mA each. Using the twin cable method, this is sufficient for drives; But that's not the case. The second drive is having trouble ejecting the drive and it is a mechanical issue as the latch appears to be stuck to the inside edge of the drive cage. The $26 LG USB 2 and 3 drivers sold at Revain are much better; there is and only needs 1 usb cable and the consumption is less than 900mA. I have several new and old models and they work fine.
