I bought this because the previous one I bought from another vendor (TCK TECH) was too brittle and the metal was bent when I tried to engage the latch. This was much stronger than steel and construction and worked like a charm. It was considerably heavier, suggesting the metal was thicker/stronger, and it also came with a hard foam 'pad' that sits between the latch and the car panel it sits on. (The TCK TECH point simply screws onto the metal-to-metal plate.) I used it to replace the latch on a 2006 Sequoia. It only took me about 20 minutes from start to finish. Remove the back panel from inside the car. Then look through the metal holes in the latch and use a long ratchet to unscrew the 2 screws. Then push out the plastic frame retaining pins around the license plate from the inside. Then I loosened the 2 screws holding the latch to the panel and replaced it with a new one. Very easy.
