Review on 🔊 Extech 407730 Digital Sound Meter: Measures Sound Levels from 40 to 130DB with Accuracy by Mike Carter

I chose one of these to match the level of my subwoofer to my main stereo. It has A and C weighting and I used C as recommended. It worked great for that without having to understand anything, right out of the box. I also used it to check if the noise level in my child's room was in a safe range and adjusted it a bit. To be honest there are a lot of buttons that I probably won't use, but it's well done. It comes with a foam windscreen that you can use for outdoor activities. For a quick assessment of how loud an audio is (for unofficial purposes, I'm not sure how well calibrated it is) or to compare two sources to see if they're the same, this is the tool to go. wife that the home theater stereo is not too loud to damage his hearing. I then pointed out that her yelling about how loud the stereo was was actually loud enough to damage her hearing (90dB!) and that she should probably turn the volume down. Yeah, things didn't go so well. I do not recommend using this for spouse volume testing. But for stereo gear to match, oh yeah, that's cool.
