This is a good alternative to the traditional RV antenna head. While you can easily replace your existing head, if you want to use it as a permanent vertical antenna instead of a curved one, you'll need to trim the original tubes down to about 6 inches, as the entire unit is about 12 inches tall in this configuration. That's roughly the height of your wheeled air conditioners. To get the correct spacing for drilling holes in the cut tubes, first remove the original antenna, then use a piece of cardboard to create a template to mark the distance between the ends of the tubes and the location of the 1/4" mounting holes Once you've done that you can cut the tubing properly and drill new mounting holes for the locking pins Tools Needed: A hacksaw, a felt tip pen, a hand drill, and a 1/4" drill bit You can modify the antenna all the time leave it on without fear of it being ripped off! You can still rotate it 360 degrees.
