I have an RV with a standard garden hose connection to the water supply. You can spend over $125 on a heated hose that may or may not work very well, or have a cheap hose that fails and does not protect the filter or fittings from freezing. Or you can use this heating cable and some insulation and wrap your own hose and filter and it just works. I will say that after a few hours the water in the hose gets quite warm. So if you need cold water, you have to run it until the hot water runs out. I haven't had any problems with freezing yet. In warm weather I can just turn it off. And if one of the components fails, I can simply replace the failed one. If you're doing the same thing, I don't see the point of wrapping the heating cable around the hose. I ran the heating cable along the hose and taped it every foot or so. That way you're less likely to make a sharp kink, which I think could damage it.
