I think most people have tankless hot water installed in their garage but if yours is in the basement and is bothering someone in the room above this is for you! The flow sensor on my instantaneous water heater tripped when no cold water came into the house for several hours. Since my water heater was installed under the floor of my underground bedroom, it annoyed me that the water heater would turn on in the middle of the night when someone flushed the toilet. As soon as the toilet filled up and the water stopped flowing, it sent a burst of water down my cold water lines, causing the tankless system to only work for a minute. A false start you could say. I installed this valve on my cold line before connecting it to the inlet of my water heater. Problem solved! Now my flow tank only lights up when there is hot water in my house. Purchase a trigger clip along with a deburring and depth tool when ordering. I used both during install with Pex.
