This is a really good microscope but to be honest I have no idea how to use it effectively. for example, to look at a small piece of writing or maybe an insect. My instinct told me that if 10X or 20X power is good, 250X power must be amazing! Unfortunately, I never realized how powerful a 100x to 250x magnification can be. When the magnification is so strong, it will be difficult for you to aim at what you want to see, and when you find it, your gaze will be so intense that you will not be able to make out what you are seeing. Text on a smartphone is just a collection of giant pixels. Printed words are excluded. You look at individual dots that form a letter. In a word, overdone. to me. Lesson learned. If you're just looking for a magnifying glass, settle for something 30x or less. Once you've reached 100x or 250x magnification, you're now seeing something only an experienced eye (or student) can understand. It's fun to look at through this microscope, which is why I'm not returning it. It has a function that allows you to use your smartphone to take pictures, but it's not easy because you first have to figure out where to aim and then find a way to keep the cellphone, microscope and object steady while aiming at it.
