The X2PD car charger is easy to use and a good backup option when you need to charge your phone in the car. Its USB 3.0 port works well for this application and it is the only application I expect for this charger at the moment. This USB connector (USB Type-A) is familiar to most of us. With the transition from USB 1 to USB 2 on modern USB 3 devices, this connector has remained the same. The X2PD includes a second connector, the physical USB Type-C connector is smaller, roughly the size of a micro USB connector. The USB-C connector itself can support various new USB standards such as USB 3.1 and USB Power Delivery (USB PD). This means much faster charging if your device has a USB-C port, allowing you to use it to charge your new laptops in a car charger. If you have a converter, you can also charge your older devices, but charging speeds will eventually be limited by the USB-A port of older devices. What I particularly like about USB-C is that it's reversible, so you don't have to flip the connector again. I seem to be challenging 50-50 statistical expectations looking for the right alignment and I end up having to flip it 80% and sometimes I have to flip it 3 times to connect - got it.
