I have an 11 inch Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop that is showing its age. The installed Wi-Fi card has never been good, but everything was fine until recently. The download speed was between 20 and 30 Mbit/s. Spectrum kept saying I should get more speed. For less than $10 I figured the USB Wifi 'Nub' might be worth a try. Received quickly, it was pretty much a plug and play install. I actually had to SELECT a new Wi-Fi device in Device Manager. Real Tech I think. Before picking a new Wi-Fi, I assume the laptop defaults to the old card? After choosing the new "location" I was able to upgrade to 5G instead of the old 2G. Now I understand what the spectrum kept telling me. My device was the problem, not their service! My 5G download speed went from 30Mbps to almost 200Mbps! And no longer loses the signal. I have bookmarked Google Speedtest and tested WiFi speed frequently. Surprisingly, the speed was consistently around 190 Mbps. For less than $10, I can keep my legacy Lenovo Yoga and get download speeds I never thought possible. Fingers crossed it continues, but so far I'm very impressed.
