I have never owned a Vitamix blender but I love my Vitamix FoodCyler and have always seen amazing reviews of this company's blenders. I was very interested in trying this model. Unfortunately I am very disappointed with the performance. Before I go into specific reasons why I don't like this blender, I want to make it clear that this is an entry-level Vitamix product and I'd like to think that more expensive models will perform to my satisfaction and even exceed my expectations. I have been very happy with the Nutribullet blender in the past. Since the Vitamix is sold at a much higher price, I expected this blender to be vastly superior to the less expensive Nutribullets I've used over the years. It's not like this. My apologies that my video was cut before I finished the mixing process. Hopefully this gives you an idea of how this machine works. (1) Even before I used a blender for the first time, I knew how dangerous it was! Unlike any blender I've ever owned, it works even when the blender is not attached to the base. When I first plugged the coffee maker in, the switch wasn't in the "off" position and the base started spinning! (2) The blender is not "snapped" into the base. It has to be installed a certain way, but it doesn't snap into place. (3) Blender jar/knife is one piece. The bottom of the blade can does not separate from the rest of the can. While this can potentially prevent accidental spills if you don't tighten the base enough, it makes it much more difficult to remove food from the blender and clean the bottom of the jug. (4) The power of this machine is low! Only the engine is not very good. The manual states that this blender is not for "hot soups or very thick nut butters". In my experience, he couldn't even mix up soft (canned) chickpea hummus! I often make hummus in my Nutribullet blender, and I've made it with other inexpensive brands at family members' with no problems. My hummus is always silky smooth within a minute or so of mixing. I usually do NOT have to stop the blender to mix the hummus in the middle of a cycle. With this machine I had to stop the mixer THREE times to mix (video cuts off after the second stop). The machine then switches off automatically due to overheating. My hummus still wasn't as silky as I'd like, but I had no choice but to stop mixing at this point to allow the machine to cool. (5) The machine will overheat and auto shut off very quickly compared to most blenders. I ran the blender intermittently for three minutes and it overheated. (6) I smelled (light) smoke when the car was overheating. (7) When the mixer stalls, the entire unit shakes and moves across the counter. Revain doesn't allow me to upload more than one video or I would have screened it. (8) While I like a very simple/simple mix speed slider, the slider doesn't lock in the off position. It moves very easily and can accidentally turn on without realizing it. This is a bad combination with a base that can work even if the blender jar is not attached to the base. (9) The blender jug must not be cleaned in the dishwasher! I think it would probably be fine on the top shelf, but I don't know of any dishwasher with a top shelf deep enough to hold a blender. (10) The instruction manual is short and contains almost no information. I clicked the QR code to go to more information on the website, but even the information available there was very limited. OVERALL REVIEW This blender is very easy to use as it only has a hand wheel. It's perfect for liquid sauces or liquid smoothies as long as you don't mind washing it by hand. It's not the best option for anything thicker than soft serve consistency. To be honest I'm not even sure it can blend soft serve ice cream unless the blender bowl is less than half full. That brings us to the price. Why would you want to pay $250 for a blender that performs on par with an $80 KitchenAid?
