Great for Honeywell Vista Series Alarms

This worked great for connecting Kidde smoke detectors to my Honeywell Vista 21ip alarm system. I also bought a CO120x to monitor my interconnected Kidde CO detectors. A few installation notes: I walked 14-3 nautical miles from a smoke alarm in my basement to a 4-11/16 inch junction box with a bypass switch. The switch allows me to deactivate the relay if I get false alarms. I did some research and found that the NO and NC circuits remain de-energized when the power is removed. Shutting off power to the relay effectively disables the alarm system from the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This can come in handy when soldering in a basement or when cooking causes a temporary problem. I turned on the bypass switch to make sure it doesn't accidentally disconnect. Two relays with double sided tape and all electrical connections made. I then wired NO, NC, Common from the two relays to an adjacent but electrically isolated single block junction box. I did this because it is necessary to electrically isolate the 120V from the low voltage alarm wiring for safety reasons. I then routed 4 wire wiring from Spruce from his alarm and used 2 wires for SM120x (NO and Common) and the other two for CO120x (NO and Common). If you place this in zone 1 you will need to install a 2 ohm terminating resistor between NO and ground on the appropriate relay. I also decided to install a resistor between NO and CO120x together. Then make sure you select NO and EOLR when setting the zones. EOLR provides line monitoring. In the non-alarm condition, the alarm system will display a resistance in the circuit of 2 ohms. In an alarm condition, it displays infinite resistance in ohms. So if the line breaks or the connection is compromised, your alarm will notify you with an error code.
