Review on πŸ‘ 8 OZ Corriedale Wool Roving - 100% Natural Fiber for Needle Felting and Spinning - Clean, Undyed, 29.5 Micron - Ideal Core Wool by Kristen Simpson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Requires a lot of effort to craft the core

I have used Corriedale 8 oz cream on my pet's marrow. I've found it takes a lot of work to get the shape you want, but it's relatively cheap wool for the amount you get and makes a great base for your animal. It just takes longer to get a solid core. The nice thing is that this creamy white can also be used for white spots on the animal. You don't have to add white. Just use an open core. For felting needles I recommend an assorted set consisting of a long and a short needle. The long one is usually a 36 (your main felting needle) with a triangular point. Short - 38. For the best needle, I recommend purchasing Bear Creek star point needles. This lace is easier to pierce with felted wool, so I'll use a size 38 for the detailing. There is enough yarn in 8 ounces to make many small animals out of one big animal. I mostly stick to the 6 inch max and have made 3 birds and a fox so far and still have plenty of yarn left over. As a newbie to felting, I create realistic animals. I've found that the eyes are the most important part of an animal when you have a nucleus. Don't worry about a pair of amber eyes. The pupil is too small to be realistic for animals, but they're great for whimsical characters. Spend money and get good eyes. When you buy protective eyes, the back becomes too thick for your small animals. I cut off the back and glue half of the front to the felted piece. As for eye size, 4, 5 and 6 are the perfect sizes for your little creations. So I take size 38 for the detailing. There is enough yarn in 8 ounces to make many small animals out of one big animal.
