I had a CEL (Check Engine Light) on constantly while driving my Mazda Rx8, I used an OBDII scanner and found a code P0171 System to Lean Bank 1 and P0101 (similar to their generic trouble code description). I tried to clean the old Denso Maf sensor but found a small amount of dirt/oil on the sensor and the air filter was clean while trying to fix the code from the blog recommendations. I decided to replace it with a Walker product instead of Denso which I think might backfire for me later on as some blog posts mention that Denso has a much lower failure rate compared to other aftermarket MAFs . In the meantime I have reset the ECM by clearing the codes with my OBDII scanner and so far there have been no other codes although this may change as I see multiple reports of the above codes being caused by other parts of the evaporator. / Fuel control systems.
