Review on Lippert Components 389381 Siphon Roof by Charles Long

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Before buying, measure the diameter of the ventilation pipe!

First of all, I should mention that Greg, the founder of 360 Siphon, was happy to personally help me solve my installation problems. So I have no hesitation in recommending this product to anyone interested as Greg went above and beyond the level of support you would expect when buying a piece of plastic. :) In short, however, there are 3 caveats to consider before you buy 360 siphons: 1. If your vent pipes are 1¼" ID, you'll need to do some non-obvious creative plumbing; You have no choice (as far as I know) but to permanently tape it to your vent tube, making it inaccessible to coils and similar maintenance. It is only suitable for 2" and 1½" ventilation pipes. Lippert's sparse accompanying documentation mentions buying a 1¼" x 2" ABS or PVC fitting "at any hardware store" in this case, but I dare to find such a thing! (I've searched the web including Revain USA and Canada, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Rona, Home Hardware, ACE Hardware, Lowes, etc.) The "easiest" solution for me, particularly to keep the original bleed base, was to Adjust from 1¼" to 1½", then the shortest possible length 1½", then a 360 siphon. Retrofitting the gray and black water vents is easy with 360 siphons: the discs overlap luckily, due to the nature of my diameter at the top, The solution here was simple: make one longer than the other and add half an inch more to the 1½" part (also shown in the photo). While the end result is acceptable for my old RV, it's quite large (almost the same height) as the vent cover you see in the background) and wouldn't be much shorter if I removed the original bases.

Pros
  • Air nozzles
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
