We bought this to stop dogs running up and down stairs. For the price (less than $35), this gate turns out to be quite suitable for our needs. One of the surprises was that the instructions say: don't mount it on the plaster walls! I almost returned this purchase, but instead I used fence boards (bought for about $1.50 each) and attached gate pieces to them (see picture). I'm still concerned about the hinge and locking mechanism being plastic, but so far they're holding up better than I expected. (It worked for about three weeks and was used daily). What's a bit odd is that the gate spacers (width) only let you tighten between the rails, so you can't increase the spacing. I couldn't use them at all / and left them. This means that the gate can move back and forth a bit when open, but it actually works well and actually makes it a bit easier to lock the swing gate with a strong click in the latch. most of the time. All in all, for the price, it's not a bad deal - and it keeps the dogs back - perhaps more of a psychological barrier than anything else!? It's pretty easy. In general, we are happy that we managed to do this. This is an affordable solution for our needs. I hate giving only three stars, but I can't give four - it should be more than three and a half (?)
