Our 1-7 day old chicks were too small to jump on the perch (they tried though, cute little jerks) but they loved running around the lower perches like Oh, and mirrors. When they were a week old, they practiced jumping the highest pole and were pros by two weeks. Size wise I assume it will be fine until they reach the 6-8 week range (after that they will move out of the incubator and onto the street where the branches will be dormant anyway). I have another triangular wooden perch that I bought for my first batch of chickens in the spring and I like this one better in comparison, especially for chickens. Bamboo seems easier to clean and pollutes less than wood and is of course more environmentally friendly. I love built in mirrors and recommend the larger version over the smaller, as well as the placement in the center of the brooder and the ability for the chicks to dive in and out of the field of view which helps reduce bullying issues. I had no problems with assembly. The only small issue is that it hasn't been leveled, but it's used in incubators over wood pellets/sawdust - it's not necessary.
