Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love authentic flight scenes, oh and Clara Bow.

All I would add is my agreement that this film is unsurpassed in authenticity. No WW1 dogfight film since Wings has had pilots do all their camera work as they literally fly during their maneuvers and the main characters are real pilots. Everything we see on screen from the planes is real, not studio footage. And there are even some real WW1 planes (they basically crash, which is both cool and frustrating!). The relative costs involved were astronomical. If the producers had to come up with the money to pay for all the donated military equipment, ammunition and extras, the picture could not have been made. To date, it is the most expensive film ever made (in relative value, not dollars). The story is sweet as sugar, but I don't mean it in a bad way. After all, it was the climax of the "era of silence" where all clichés were firmly anchored. Clara Bow - "The It Girl" in her prime. The movie has everything. This DVD is top notch, clear and almost flawless. The music created for this version makes it even more enjoyable to watch.
