Our cat is huge and has HUGE paws that she loves to scratch with, so we use collars a lot. It got very tangled at first so we were worried but we trimmed the loose threads and it stopped after about a week. Since then it has held up very well. And the emergency release worked great when he tried to chase one of our cats under the bed and got caught (like I said, he's gigantic). Silver also looks good with his black coat. I was going to post a photo but it's quite hard to get hold of because it has a lot of fur so the collar is only visible from a few angles.
