Grapefruit spoons are not all created equal. I tried two different ways to see which I like best and they worked beautifully. Spots where they beat the competition: The handle didn't cut my hand because the edges are slightly rounded, perfect for ending up scraping off a whole grapefruit, and the prongs are slightly rounded to protect your tongue a bit . . I love grapefruit and don't want to miss a bite! They are also better than my old spoons because they cut grapefruit with very little juice. The downside is that the prongs are substantial, so you have to be a little more careful when eating or you could impale yourself. I don't think it really hurts, but it's uncomfortable when you do it. The prongs are a little rounder than the other types I've bought so they don't push as hard.
