I bought this to turn on the water for my outdoor sprinkler system. My goal was to plug it directly into my sprinkler controller's main 24v outlet so I only turn the water on when I'm watering. Long story short, it didn't work because the sprinkler controller could only handle 750mA and this valve itself draws 850mA (950mA when initially activated). I could of course use a relay and I was up for that, but then I found that this thing also heats up well beyond what I think is safe. It runs on 20W and the water doesn't cool it enough when the drip lines are running. So I gave up and ordered another valve (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XX6XYD8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) that uses a motor instead of a solenoid and draws some current and cold remains . However, this valve works. If you can handle heat and electricity this will work for you. But for comparison: This valve draws too much current compared to other solenoid valves. Most 24V AC/DC solenoids draw around 600mA when energized and then quickly drop to 300mA when the valve is open. That's what I expected.
