Not recommended for hanging plants on a hook from above. One end of it should be outside on a hook in the ceiling and the end with the black box with the release button on the plant hanger, but when you hang it up the release button is too high to reach without a stool or ladder. I love the look when you pull the plant down, it detaches and goes down and then to lift it up you just push the plant. This one, to bring it down you have to press the release button and to raise it you have to pull down a thin rope that you have to hide in the plant, not what I want.
