I purchased this replacement key fob to replace a cheap, inferior OEM GM key fob that wasn't built to last. The release button on my original key fob broke again after only a few years of use. My car came with two, both of which are now broken. The dealer said around $250 to get a new fob so this replacement was a MUCH better option. The OEM key fob is a little tricky to open - basically you have to pry it open with a screwdriver to get inside. The replacement key fob is designed to be opened and has a small screw on the back. This item even came with a tiny screwdriver if you don't already have one. After opening the OEM key fob, simply move the control board to a new replacement key fob. There are videos on YouTube how to move the metal key piece, but this usually results in not being able to lock or close the metal key piece when open. I just took my keychain to WalMart and they cut a blank to fit for less than $10. Also, some reviews have mentioned that the Chevy logo decal is missing. I found my Chevy logo in an OEM replacement key fob after opening it. Of course, it's very small, so be sure to check the sticker after opening the replacement key fob.
