Review on Logitech C525 USB HD Webcam: Optimized for Online Video Calls and Streaming by Sarah Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value for money

I bought this webcam to work from home. My laptop has a built-in webcam, but since I'm using a dual-monitor docking station, it annoyed me to change the entire video conferencing layout. home, several hours a day. Easy to set up, good exposure, good contrast, no saturation, sound works well. If you're looking for something under $100 and don't need the high-end, high-resolution webcams that gamers prefer to stream, record, and post to YouTube your Minecraft gaming adventures, this is a solid solution. Details: I am using a government-issued Dell Latitude 7290 (8GB RAM, 1.9GHz processor) with Windows 10 Enterprise. Experience - Installation and activation: very easy. Out of the box, I simply plugged it into one of the docking station's USB ports. I didn't need to install any drivers (I know because all our government laptops are admin locked and I can't install anything without admin assistance) and the webcam was recognized by Skype, Webex and Zoom. Note that I had to tell each of these platforms to use the webcam as I recognized two from the system. C525" from the drop-down list. - WebEx: When joining a meeting, select "Logitech HD Webcam C525" from the "Choose video connection" drop-down list. The same goes for the sound when calling from a computer. Zoom: Go to Settings > Video and select Logitech HD Webcam C525 from the drop-down list. Experience - Audio and video quality: My team members, who I meet almost every day, quickly noticed and commented on the difference in video quality. This is a significant improvement over the built-in webcam. I really like the "I'm watching you" feature. If for some reason I move my position in the frame, the webcam adjusts. Considering I'm trying to work around the house with four pets, this happens a lot (because everyone can seem to sense when I'm on a video conference and it's TIME to try and get on my lap). - Hugh: I notice that I look a bit greener than usual. The camera tends towards the cool side of color temperature, but that doesn't bother me too much. Turning on and off different lights helps warm up a bit. I don't mind. Exposure: I'm very happy with it. I stand in front of three tall, wide windows overlooking my backyard. The webcam easily adjusts to the sunlight falling on my face at all times. - Saturation: I think it's a good balance - not too undersaturated, not too clownish. I wore everything from dark shirts to light blouses and colorful jackets; until it is supersaturated or oversaturated. Artifacts: Four days of frequent daily use, no issues with streamers or artifacts.
