Review on Enhanced Axle Bearing and Hub Assembly by Timken - Model 513084 by Lyle Stepp

I read all the reviews and there was a kind of compromise between economy and frustration. This assembly and apparently all of its competitors are a good fit. The question is whether you want to pay double for the highest quality, or pay half of the Timken and possibly have to replace again in the future. I've decided that I only want to do this once. I usually drive many kilometers by car in the country. Additional considerations: It takes time for these hub assemblies to fail completely. My factory original hub assembly started to do a "low power steering pump" about 10km before the replacement - total mileage was about 240km. The other side failed about 5 years ago, it only had about 120,000 on it, but unlike the left side, the right side was making a booming noise. None of them failed completely, I just got tired of hearing warning tones. Easy to exchange yourself. You can "borrow" special tools from major auto parts stores, and there are YouTube videos to help you with this. Pay special attention to the trick of inserting a short socket wrench extension between the hub (or hub bolt) and axle housing, starting the engine (power steering) and turning the steering wheel in the direction needed to loosen the hub. Saves many hammer blows. Much luck.
