I like outdoor cooking tools and accessories

I'm fairly new to food smoking myself and decided to give this a try before deciding whether to get a real smoker. While we smoke salmon (which didn't take long) and a whole chicken. The whole chicken took a lot longer and I had to replace the fries halfway through. There were no instructions in the smoker and while there is a "Meat Smoking Guide" I found it minimally helpful. Because of this, I had to educate myself elsewhere about using a smoker box and figure out a few things on my own. First, I've found that the best smoke flavor comes from placing a smoker wood chip on the grill, turning on the grill, closing the lid, and starting to smoke the smoker before putting on the smoke. Meat. Second tip: look for wood shavings after you've smoked for a while. You don't want to open and close the grill lid too often, but you also want to make sure your meat is still smoking. The chip bag I used says to change the chips every half hour. I haven't done it that often. When I cooked the whole chicken, which took about 2.5 hours, I changed the fries about every hour and it still had a smoky flavor. Crisps. They may still be smoking when they leave the smoking box. I put mine in a metal bowl and some of them even started to burn so I ended up pouring water in the bowl too. I'm not a smoking expert so I'm sure other people can offer better advice. Just sharing what has worked for me when using this smoker box. Overall it worked well and I'm glad I did. I look forward to trying other meats and experimenting a little more.
